The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, today visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja.
Also present were the Vice President, @Prof Osinbajo, and Chief of Staff to Mr. President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari.
Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, made this known via his verified Twitter handle on Monday afternoon.
“President @MBuhari receives in audience General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (@rccghq), @PastorEAAdeboye, at the State House, Abuja,” Ahmad wrote.
The purpose of Adeboye’s visit was not yet known as of the time of filing this report.
However, it may not be unconnected with the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020 which has been rejected by Christian groups and churches in Nigeria.
Recall that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) rejected CAMA, especially as it applies to churches.
President Muhammadu Buhari had signed the CAMA bill into law on August 7. CAMA allows religious bodies and charity organisations to be regulated by the registrar of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and a supervising minister.
However, CAN rejected the law, tagging it as ‘unacceptable and ungodly.’ The body said the implementation of the law would be an invitation to trouble that the government “does not have the power to manage.”
