AKSG Calls for Medical Volunteers for Free Outreach Program

The Akwa Ibom State Government has initiated the selection process for medical professionals who are interested in volunteering at the AKSG FREE MEDICAL & SURGICAL OUTREACH in the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.

This initiative was announced by Governor Umo Eno over two weeks ago and has been warmly received by the people of the senatorial district.

The outreach follows the successful medical outreaches in Uyo and Oron earlier this month.The Free Medical Outreach is scheduled to take place at the General Hospital in Ikot Ekpene during the second week of March, from the 11th to the 16th.

 

In an interview with the press, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Prof Augustine Vincent Umoh, stated that medical professionals who are willing to partner with the government have been invited to offer their expertise to assist the poor and vulnerable in addressing health challenges that affect their wellbeing, quality of life, and economic productivity.

 

He called on professional bodies such as the NMA, PSN, AMLSN, NANNM, among others, to collaborate with the government in providing relief to the people of Ikot Ekpene district, especially those in rural areas.

 

 

He expressed gratitude to the Governor for his health-friendly approach to governance and for responding to the needs of the people through his pragmatic approach to service delivery.

Dr Ekem Emmanuel John, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Medicals, commended Governor Umo Eno for his visionary approach to healthcare delivery in Akwa Ibom State.

 

He emphasized that while the Governor is focused on the long-term strategy of revitalizing healthcare infrastructure, particularly primary healthcare and training institutions, his short-term approach of immediate healthcare interventions through free medical outreaches is beneficial for all parties involved.
