Cross River State government has slated the resumption of its public schools for Tuesday, June 16, 2020 as Governor Ben Ayade promises to provide free Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) for all the pupils in the public schools.

The PPEs are being manufactured at the Calabar Garment Factory. Ayade, during a visit to the factory, disclosed that PPEs for the public schools had met requirements and certified by the regulatory bodies.

Ayade said the state could not afford to keep pupils at home, urging the Federal Government and other states to patronize the state garment factory for their PPEs, to enable them to move on with the new lifestyle, with protective measures.

According to the State Commissioner for Education, Godwin Amanke, one school per senatorial district would be opened, as a test run before others join.

As Cross River is yet to record any case of Corona Virus, the state said it would put in place measures to fight the spread of the virus among its people.
