Elizade University shuts down academic activities for election

The Senate of Elizade University has announced the shutdown of academic activities from Wednesday, February 22 till  March 14, 2023, following the directive by the federal government.

The federal government had ordered the closure of universities in the country ahead of the 2023 presidential and governorship elections.

The registrar of the university, Omololu Adegbenro disclosed the suspension of academic activities in a letter of notice addressed to students and parents.

According to the statement, ” Following the federal government’s directive that all universities should close from 22nd February to 14th March 2023 because of the forthcoming general elections, the Senate of Elizade University, at an emergency meeting, held on Monday, 13th February 2023, considered the Federal Government’s directive and directed that academic activities should be suspended from 22nd February to 14th March, 2023, while ALL STUDENTS should vacate the campus on Wednesday, 22nd February
and return on Tuesday, 14th March for the completion of the first semester.

“Senate further directed that upon resumption on 14th March 2023, students will be given one week of revision, while the first semester examinations will commence on Friday, 24th March, and end on Wednesday, 5th April 2023. The second semester will thereafter commence on Tuesday, 11th April 2023.

“In order to allow for a smooth completion of outstanding first-semester course outlines, if any, the senate has suspended all students’ social activities for the first semester.

“All students are enjoined to adhere strictly to these directives to enable the university to run a smooth academic calendar, as usual.

“The university management wishes all our students journey mercies. Thank you.”
