For the second time in a week, the National Grid has failed.
The nation’s national grid, which once provided power to the entire country but has since failed, is managed by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
As of 12:00 noon today, only Delta Power’s 41.00MW plant was operational on the National Grid, while Afam had 1.7MW. Power generation had peaked at 3,594.60 megawatts (MW) as of 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, just 5 days after the previous collapse.
FTN reports that the system collapsed last Thursday, and the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, blamed it on a fire breakout.

The cause of today’s collapse, however, has yet to be revealed. As of the time of publishing this report, power generation has plummeted from a peak of 3,594.60 MW to a meager 42.7 MW.
