See How to Apply for Federal Government’s 2020/2021 Scholarships

The Federal Ministry of Education has invited qualified Nigerians to participate in the 2020/2021 nomination computer-based test for Federal Government scholarship awards for Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA)

In a letter dated July 20, 2020 to vice chancellors from Nigeria’s ministry of education, the BEA scholarships are tenable for undergraduate studies in Russia, Morocco, Algeria, Serbia, Hungary, Egypt, Tunisia, Turkey, Cuba, Romania, Japan and Macedonia.

In the same vein, the postgraduate studies are tenable in Russia for those whose first degrees were obtained from Russia, China, Hungary, Serbia, Turkey, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, etc.

For undergraduate students, the scholarship covers engineering, geology, agric science, maths, languages, environmental sciences, sports, law, social sciences, biotechnology, architecture and medicine, although the space for medicine is said to be limited.

However, the postgraduate scholarship covers Master’s degree and ph.D in all fields.

To qualify for the undergraduate scholarship, the candidate must have a minimum qualification of five distinctions (A&BS) in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in the subjects relevant to their fields of study including English and Maths. Only May/June WASSCE is accepted and certificates should not be more than two years (2018/2019) for non-African countries and for African countries, age of certificate should not be more than one year (2019). Also candidates should be between 18-20 years.

In the case of postgraduate, the applicant must hold a degree with first class or second class upper division. Applicants who are previous recipients of foreign awards are expected to have acquired at least two years post qualification experience or employment practice in Nigeria.

Also, all applicants must have completed the National Youth Service Corps programme while the age limit is 35 for Master’s and 40 for Ph.D.

To apply for the scholarships, qualified candidates are advised to visit the ministry’s website. The ministry however warned that double entries would be disqualified.
