Three students, Olamide Gbadegeshin, Aduwo Ayodele, and Nice Linus, have been summoned before the school’s disciplinary committee for alleged insubordination and unruly behavior.

Recall that on May 13, 2024, the students, including activist Olorunfemi Adeyeye, were arrested by Nigerian Army officers during a protest against the fee hike.

The management had accused them of disrupting the Students’ Union inauguration and described their actions as “disrespectful” and “gross misconduct.”

ANSA Coordinator, Oladepo Temitope, stated, “We firmly believe in the right of students to peacefully protest and voice their concerns without fear of retaliation. The management’s actions undermine these fundamental rights and betray the trust that should exist between educational institutions and their student bodies.”

Temitope added, “We call upon the management to cease all forms of victimization against the #FeesMustFall comrades. Universities must uphold values of inclusivity, respect for diversity, and the free exchange of ideas.”

ANSA has vowed to protest in solidarity with the affected students if their demands are not met within seven working days, starting from July 1, 2024. Temitope warned, “We shall come down en masse to the campus to stand in solidarity with our comrades until the above-mentioned demands are achieved.”
