2023 UTME: Lagos Dominates, Top 10 States Revealed!

In the latest release of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) application statistics, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has provided insights into the number of candidates and the distribution of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers across various states. Let’s take a closer look at the top ten states based on the total number of candidates and the percentage of CBT centres they host.

Leading the pack is Lagos State, which recorded a staggering total of 270,556 candidates applying for the UTME. This represents 16.95% of the overall number of candidates. Lagos also boasts 66 CBT centres, accounting for 9.30% of the total CBT centres nationwide.

Following closely behind is Oyo State, with 94,906 candidates, constituting 5.95% of the total applicant pool. Oyo has 39 CBT centres, which make up 5.49% of the CBT centres in the country.

Ogun State takes the third spot with 91,964 candidates, accounting for 5.76% of the total number of candidates. The state is home to 38 CBT centres, representing 5.35% of the CBT centres nationwide.

Rivers State ranks fourth, with 80,118 candidates making up 5.02% of the total applicants. The state hosts 24 CBT centres, which equates to 3.38% of the overall CBT centres.

Kaduna State is fifth on the list, with 79,442 candidates, constituting 4.98% of the total number of candidates. Kaduna is home to 32 CBT centres, accounting for 4.51% of the CBT centers nationwide.

The Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, secures the sixth position, with 76,286 candidates applying for the UTME. This represents 4.78% of the overall applicant pool. Abuja hosts 32 CBT centers, mirroring the same percentage of 4.51% of CBT centers nationwide.

Delta State occupies the seventh spot, with 61,709 candidates making up 3.87% of the total candidates. Delta is home to 25 CBT centers, accounting for 3.52% of the CBT centers nationwide.

Kano State follows closely, recording 52,777 candidates, representing 3.31% of the total number of candidates. Kano hosts 37 CBT centers, which constitutes 5.21% of the CBT centers nationwide.

Nasarawa State takes the ninth position with 51,274 candidates, constituting 3.21% of the total applicant pool. The state is home to 22 CBT centers, making up 3.10% of the CBT centers nationwide.

Finally, Kwara State rounds up the top ten list, with 49,363 candidates applying for the UTME. Kwara represents 3.09% of the overall number of candidates. The state has 24 CBT centers, which accounts for 3.38% of the CBT centers in the country.
