A total of 246 students of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, have bagged First Class Honours.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Monday Igwe made the disclosure during a press briefing at the Enugu Campus of the institution as part of the activities lined up for the institution’s 50th convocation ceremony.
He said a total of 14, 308 Bachelor’s
degrees of the UNN would be awarded at the convocation, adding: “I am proud to announce that a total of 246 of these graduands have bagged the First Class Honours degree of the University.
“Similarly, the second Class Honours (Upper Division) degree will be awarded to 5,092n graduands, while the Second Class Honours (Lower division) will be awarded to 7, 865 graduands.

“Similarly, 1,088 graduands will be awarded the Third Class degree, while 17 persons will earn a Pass degree.”
Igwe further revealed that a total of 96 Diplomas would be awarded, as well as 2, 482 Postgraduate degrees of the University, including 618 doctorate and 1,690 master’s degrees.
On recent developments in the University, he said a good number of infrastructural projects were undertaken or completed at the various campuses of the university.
While some of the projects were awarded by capital allocations from the government, intervention funds from Tertiary Education Trust Fund, (TETFund), others were funded by internally generated revenue, as well as donations from alumni and friends of the University.

He hinted that a number of departments and programmes were successfully accredited by the National University Commission, while many staff were promoted to various ranks, including the rank of professor.
Meanwhile, the VC said the Convocation lecture would be delivered tomorrow, Thursday, by Monsignor Professor Obiora Ike, the Executive Director of Globethics on the theme: ‘Purpose-driven and values-driven higher education.’
