DG directs NEMA offices to cooperate with all critical stakeholders

The Director General of NEMA, AVM Muhammad A Muhammadu (Rtd) has directed all NEMA Offices to cooperate and collaborate with all critical stakeholders to ensure that Nigerians must be able to celebrate the festival period without any panic/stress resulting from emergencies.

He made it known through a press release on the year’s operation which he tagged as “Towards an Emergency Free Yuletide”.

According to him, ” The Centres are to provide various forms of humanitarian assistance with major focus on road safety along the corridor.

“It should be noted that this corridor gets congested with local and international travelers who ply the corridor from neighbouring West African States with Nigerian Nationals.”

“Commuters and people along these points can access any type of humanitarian service if they approach the officers there.

“The points have service paramedics, first aiders and emergency responders.

“On this note, Julius Berger has promised to open up the corridor for free flow traffic in 3 major points where construction are in progress, the points have been causing slight traffic problem and actions have commenced with the removal of 1 section on Friday, today another one will be removed and by 23rd December, 2020, the construction company promised that the whole corridor will be free of any obstacles.
NEMA is hereby urging Nigerians.”

Meanwhile, the Lagos Territorial Office has continued to carry out the directive of the Director General ensuring an Emergence free yuletide since Friday, 28th December, 2020 in close collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps’.

The NEMA Lagos Territorial Office in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Lagos and Lagos – Ibadan Corridor’ Commands have established 9 Emergency Response Centres (EOC) to aid prompt
in response to the needs of the people anytime the need arises.

In the same vein, the main reason why the collaboration became more important to ensure effective and efficient service delivery was outlined in the following established points:
