Insecurity: Sokoto approves merger of boarding schools in border towns

Sokoto State government has  directed a temporary merger of boarding schools across border towns earlier closed in order to ensure security and safety of students.
Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal who gave the approval said the merger took effect from Friday, January 8, 2021.
Accordingly, pupils of Government Boarding Primary Schools in Balle, Isa, and Jabo are to return to their respective schools for the continuation of classes.
 In a  statement, the Public Relations Officer,  the State Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, Mallam Nura Bello Maikwanci, said the schools were merged with other boarding schools located in more secured towns.
Hitherto, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Muhammad. Bello Abubakar Guiwa, confirmed that all necessary arrangements had been made to ensure the success of the merger.
Guiwa also said all COVID-19 protocols would be adhered to in  the affected schools.
Affected by the development included; GSS Kebbe moved to GSS Sanyinna, Sultan Muhammadu Tambari Illela to GSS Gwadabawa, GSS S/Birnin Gobir to Sani Dangyadi Unit Secondary School, Farfaru.
Also, Government Girls Secondary School Illela will move to HABMASS, Sokoto, UBEC S/Birnin Gobir to HABMASS, Sokoto, GGC Rabah to Government Girls Unity Secondary School Bodinga, GSS Gada to GSS Kware, GSS Gandi to GSS Wurno.

Others are GSS Gorono to GSS Wurno, GSS Tureta to Sultan Abubakar College, Sokoto, GSS Isa to STC, Sokoto while GTC Binji  moves to ABA, Farfaru and OOTC Bafarawa  go to GTC, Farfaru accordingly.
Meanwhile, the state government  has called on the parents of the affected students  to send their  children  to the schools they were transferred to.
In the same vein, the affected principals are required to take immediate action.
