Abuja Man Who Climbed Radio Mast Sent For Mental Evaluation, To Be Arraigned In Court

Shaibu Alhaji Yushau the middle-aged man who climbed a high broadband radio mast in Jatampe Abuja, in an attempt to take his own life, has been sent for mental evaluation at the Social Development Secretariat(SDS).

Yushau, who was taken into custody by the FCT Police Command on Monday.will undergo a mental assessment to determine his state if mind as the time of the incident.

According to eyewitness, Yashau scaled the mast, causing widespread panic and alarm among residents and passersby.

The Polic were promptly alerted and a team of officers dispatched to the scene to persuade him to come down.

The Police Public Relations Officers,SP,Josephine Adeh, on Tuesday, said that Yushau will be charged to court for attempted suicide, disturbance of peace and incitement if found to be mentally stable after the evaluation.

Her words,”The suspect if found to be mentally stable after test ,will be charged in court for attempted suicide, disturbance of public peace and incitement in accordance with sections 241,111 and 114 of the penal code Act.”

On his part the commissioner if Police,FCT,CP Benneth C.If web ,urged residents to be law-abiding while pushing to for their voices to be heard,emphasizing that the police will not be stampeded into allowing the breakdown of law and order.
