In a unanimous decision, 180 members of the House of Representatives Minority Caucus have called for the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), from detention.
The motion, moved by Rep Obi Aguocha, emphasized the need for a political solution to Kanu’s release, citing its significance for national peace, stability, and unity. Aguocha stated, “The resolution of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case is crucial for national peace, stability, and unity… A political solution could pave the way for enhanced national integration and the restoration of trust among various communities.”
The caucus, comprising members from various opposition parties, adopted the position after a meeting in Abuja.
