The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has asked the organisers of the proposed August 1 nationwide protest to rescind their decision, noting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is acutely aware of the current plights of Nigerians and that he is working tirelessly and meticulously to resolve them.
He said what is required is for Nigerians to stand united, embracing a strong sense of patriotism and national pride, with firm support for the president as he leads the nation through this transformative period.
Tunji-Ojo, in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen on Saturday in Abuja, noted that the nation’s journey in about 64 years of independence has never been easy, but through collective resilience and patriotism, significant strides could be made.
The statement read in part: “Sixty-four years after attaining sovereign status, our beloved nation has consciously strived towards the realisation of a better Nigeria.
