Despite the incident, compliance with the protest against hunger in Kano has been low, with many residents staying indoors. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had previously warned of potential violence, indicating that some individuals might try to hijack the protest for nefarious purposes.

Addressing business leaders, traditional rulers, and religious leaders at Government House, Kano, the governor stated, “Protests will not take us anywhere. I urge those who wish to exercise their right to protest to refrain from engaging in any behavior that could be exploited by agents of destruction.”

Governor Yusuf emphasized that the government has received credible intelligence about plans by disgruntled individuals to incite trouble. He assured that such actions would not be tolerated and invited genuine protesters to Government House for constructive dialogue.

He also highlighted ongoing efforts by the state government to implement policies and programs aimed at improving the well-being of Kano’s citizens, underscoring the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region.
