The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has denied reports that the results of some public school students in Ogun
State were withheld due to indebtedness. Instead, the examination body attributed the delay to a technical hitch, which is being addressed.
The Branch Controller of WAEC in Ogun State, Ayobami Suberu, described the report as “mischievous and unbalanced.” He clarified that the Ogun State Government was not indebted to the Council and that the results of the affected students were still pending due to a technical issue.

Suberu said, “Let me say categorically that Ogun State is not owing WAEC a dime. The report of indebtedness is not balanced and is mischievous. How can a reporter just go ahead and put up a story without getting the side of WAEC? That is not ethical.”
He explained that the results were not released due to a technical hitch and that the Council was working to resolve the issue. “We have activated communication with the Head of the Test Administration Division, and we are getting positive responses regarding the issue,” he added.
Suberu assured that the results would be released before the close of work on Tuesday.
He emphasized that the Ogun State Government was not indebted to WAEC and that the report was misleading.
