Tony Okocha, the sacked chairman of the All Progressives Congress Caretaker Committee in Rivers State, has described the recent #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest as a riot.

Okocha made this statement while leading a pro-Tinubu support rally in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

“The crowd you see here came out in large numbers, and you saw how peaceful the procession was. This is what we call a protest,” Okocha said. “We are marching for Mr. President. We want to clean the rot that was typical from August 1 to August 10.”

Okocha took a swipe at Governor Siminalayi Fubara for offering to give protesters money for bread while his counterparts were meeting with stakeholders to find solutions to pressing issues. “When other governors in other states are circumspect, our own governor drives freely to commission or attend a burial,” Okocha said.

He called for patience, saying, “Rome was not built in a day. All that Mr. President is doing are futuristic programmes. The President has recognised the fact of what education can do for the people.”
