The Independent National Electoral Commission has uploaded 74.68 percent of the results of the Edo governorship election on its Result Viewing Portal.
According to the report from the portal on Saturday, 3,375 results out of 4,519 polling units where elections were conducted in the state have been uploaded to the portal.
The development comes as the commission continues to collate the results of the election, which was held on September 21.
INEC’s spokesperson, Festus Okoye, confirmed the development, saying, “We have uploaded 74.68 percent of the results to our portal. We are working hard to ensure that all the results are uploaded as soon as possible.”
The Edo governorship election was contested by several candidates, including the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki, and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
The results of the election are being closely watched by Nigerians and the international community, as it is seen as a test of the country’s democratic process.
