The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially kicked off its campaign for the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, with a vibrant rally held on Oyemekun Road, Akure.

The event attracted hundreds of party supporters clad in branded uniforms and fez caps.

The National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Umar Damagun, presented the party flag to the gubernatorial candidate, Mr. Agboola Ajayi, emphasizing the party’s unity and determination to reclaim power from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“It is a known fact that APC has brought hunger to this nation. This is the time to pay them back,” Damagun declared, urging voters to protect their ballots.

Ajayi, flanked by his running mate, Festus Akingbaso, and other national leaders, expressed a lack of confidence in the current Residents Electoral Commissioner (REC), calling for her removal.

“We want the Chairman of INEC to redeploy Ondo REC because she was born and bred in Akure; we don’t have confidence in her,” he stated.

Bauchi Governor, Mohammed Bala, representing the PDP Governors’ Forum, assured party unity, dismissing any factional crisis. “All the 13 governors are behind you,” he said, stressing the need to deliver Ondo from the hardships imposed by the APC.

Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde also addressed the crowd, urging vigilance against vote-buying and calling for a fair electoral process. “This is the beginning of victory in Ondo State,” he stated.
