The officer, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, lost his life during an altercation with commercial motorcyclists, commonly known as Okada riders.

According to reports, the officers were met with resistance when they attempted to remove the truck that had hit the motorcyclist. The Okada riders allegedly demanded that the truck be set on fire.

Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the incident and condemned the killing as an unprovoked attack.

“The team received a distress call around 1:40 am on Saturday about an accident involving a trailer and a motorcyclist at WEMCO Junction, Mobil Road, near Pen Cinema, Agege,” Hundeyin explained.
