Suspected cultists have brutally murdered Nonso, the third brother in a family plagued by violence, in Awka, the capital of Anambra State.

Nonso was killed on Friday afternoon near Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, marking a devastating loss for a family already grieving.

This incident follows the murders of Nonso’s two brothers, including Buchi, who was shot dead three months ago near MacDon Eatery.

With this latest act of violence, the family is left without any surviving sons, leaving their mother heartbroken.

Awka has recently witnessed a surge in cult-related violence, with 16 individuals killed in nearby Nibo and seven more in Ifite Awka in recent weeks.

Despite assurances from law enforcement about increased efforts to tackle the issue, the bloodshed continues unabated.

Anambra State Police Commissioner Nnaghe Obono Itam condemned the latest killing, vowing to pursue the culprits relentlessly. “We will leave no stone unturned in apprehending the perpetrators and bringing them to justice,” he stated.

In response to the escalating violence, the Ezinano Awka Community, led by Ozo Jeff Nweke, announced a N10 million bounty for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the recent Nibo massacre and warned cultists to stay away from Awka and its surrounding areas.
