The Senator representing Ogun East in the eighth National Assembly, Buruji Kashamu is dead. He died today due to complications from COVID-19 at First Cardiology Consultants in Lagos, according to his close friend, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce.
Ben Murray-Bruce made the announcement on his Twitter handle Saturday evening, adding that Kashamu died at about 6.21pm.
He said, ” I have just lost my good friend of forever to COVID-19. Until his death, Sen Buruji Kashamu and I were inseparable. He died today at First Cardiology Consultants, in Lagos.
“May his gentle soul rest in peace. I pray his family and loved ones the fortitude to bear this heavy loss.”

Kashamu was the founder of Western Lotto Limited, one of Nigeria’s lottery operators. For years, he was wanted in the United States for alleged drug offences but he had always denied wrongdoing.
Prominent Nigerians that died at First Cardiology Consultants included former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and Nigeria’s former Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.
