Tolu Odugbemi, former UNILAG, OSUSTECH VC bags SURGE Ambassador award

A former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and  Ondo State University of Science and Technology, (OSUSTECH) Okitipupa, Nigeria, Prof Tolu Odugbemi, has bagged an award of excellence at the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo in Ondo State.
Odugbemi, who is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP), Foundation Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College (FMCPath), and a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists, U.K (FRCPath), was named the UNIMED  SURGE Ambassador.
The don has been a Foundation Fellow, (FNAMed) and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Nigerian Academy of Medicine since May 17, 2019.

The award, according to UNIMED’s vice-chancellor, Prof Adesegun Fatusi, is in recognition of his support for UNIMED renaissance, growth and expansion.

The VC in a letter to Odugbemi said, “Your support for the UNIMED ‘s dream of settling at its permanent site with world-class infrastructure and facilities by the year 2024 when the university will be marking its 10th anniversary is noted and cannot be left unappreciated.”

He said the award was in recognition of the don’s belief in the project UNIMED,  and his unquantifiable contribution to humanity, the academy and the country at large.

The award was conferred on Prof Odugbemi during the second and third convocation ceremonies of UNIMED where 252 students were awarded first degrees.

Prof. Odugbemi has earlier been honoured with the Nigerian National Order of Merit (NNOM) for his outstanding and distinguished academic scholarship and Officer of the Order of Niger (OON) in 2007 and 2008 respectively.
