US Capitol Invasion: Trump Loses at Supreme Court

A bid by former President of America, Donald Trump to stop the release of White House records needed in the probe of Capitol invasion has been denied.

The US Supreme Court refused to block the bid sought by Trump.

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) can now hand over several documents to the investigators.

They were requested by the Democratic-led congressional panel looking into the January 6, 2021 riot.

The court had on January 19, 2022 ordered that the files be handed over to the House of Representatives.

Weeks earlier, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit upheld a lower court ruling against Trump.

The court declared that the ex-leader had no basis to challenge President Joe Biden’s decision to allow the records get to congress.

Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol building after his address wherein he insisted the 2020 election was rigged.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, among others, strongly pushed for his impeachment.
