Nigerian government works with education ministry on school resumption
The Nigerian Government has said that it is working with the ministry of education to fashion out the modalities for safe reopening of schools across Nigeria.
Terminal students writing external examinations may be the first set of students to resume as the Federal Government works towards maintaining a stable academic session in the country, according to the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) ON COVID-19, PTF chairman, Boss Mustapha, at the last briefing of the task force in Abuja. “We don’t want what has happened to affect the next academic session.

Mustapha said that the issue of school resumption was delicate and should be carefully handled, especially since Nigeria was presently at the critical phase of communal transmission of the pandemic COVID-19.
“Nigeria witnessed a spike in the number of confirmed cases when the number of recorded cases jumped to 663 on June 9. This number gives us cause for concern as a Task Force and as a nation,” he said.
