Academic activities since Tuesday have been grounded at the Federal Polytechnic Ede, Osun state following an internal industrial action embarked upon by the academic staff of the institution, ASUP, aimed at pressing home the demands of the lecturers.
It was learnt that the lecturers since Monday, have continued to abscond the Part Time classes, having decried the failure of the management of the institution to release their Part-time allowances.
The lecturers were attending to only Full Time students as confirmed by Republican Nigeria.
The aggrieved lecturers had on several occasions warned the management of the school to accede to their request or face a full-fledged strike action.
The union had during the week, met with the management, urging the authorities to do the needful, unfortunately both parties failed to reach a truce.
The development prompted, the Students’ Union Government of the school, declaring ‘No lecture for Full Time’ order untill normalcy is been restored, adding that an injury to one is an injury to all.
In another development, Franktalknow had earlier reported that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife chapter, during the week also embarked on ‘indefinite strike’ over unpaid allowances of members.
However, reacting, the management of the school had dismissed the strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, of the school, saying students have been attending lectures regularly.
