A tragic boat accident occurred on Monday at Imore town in the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, leaving at least 21 passengers feared drowned.
The incident involved two boats, each carrying 16 passengers, which collided and capsized in the middle of the lagoon.
The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident on Tuesday and stated that emergency responders quickly mobilized to the scene and rescued 11 passengers with injuries.
The injured were rushed to the Naval Hospital in Navy Town, Alakija, for medical attention.
The police command is currently working to recover the bodies of the remaining passengers and has launched an investigation into the incident.
The cause of the collision is yet to be determined, but it is reported that the two boats were unregistered passenger boats.
