Borno Police Present N60.5m Cheque to Families of Deceased Officers

The Borno State Police Command has distributed a total of N60,507,444.17 to 34 families and next of kin of police personnel who died or were injured in active service.

This was announced by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Nahum Daso, on Monday evening.

The funds are part of the Group Life Assurance Benefits and IGP Family Welfare Insurance Schemes initiated by Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to support the families of deceased officers. The cheque presentation occurred on October 21, 2024, at the Command Headquarters in Maiduguri.

During the presentation, Deputy Commissioner of Police A.M. Bello, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, M.L. Yusufu, expressed gratitude for the IGP’s commitment to officer welfare, stating, “I urge the beneficiaries to make efficient and judicious use of the funds for their betterment.”

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Jagila Bitrus, expressed her appreciation, saying, “I want to thank the IGP and the entire police management for their support since the death of my sister, and I promise to use the money wisely.”
