BREAKING: Saudi Arabia King Salman hospitalised, set to undergo medical tests for lung inflammation

The King of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has been reportedly hospitalised and will undergo medical tests on Sunday evening for lung inflammation.

The Saudi royal court confirmed the development in a terse statement issued on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

The statement said; “The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may Allah protect him – will undergo some medical tests this evening, Sunday, 3 Rabi` al-Akhir 1446 AH, corresponding to October 6, 2024 AD, based on the recommendations of the Royal Clinics, due to pneumonia.

May Allah protect the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and grant him health and wellness.

The 88-year-old king of the world’s biggest oil exporter, a major U.S. ally in the Middle East, also received medical care for lung inflammation in May.

Salman last chaired a cabinet meeting in August, less than two weeks after a royal decree issued by him allowed the cabinet to convene in the absence of the king, crown prince or both.

The decree said that in their absence it would be chaired by the eldest member of the cabinet who is a descendant of Salman’s father King Abdulaziz Al Saud, founder of the Saudi state.
