The Management of the National Youth Service Corps has denied reports on blogs and social media that a corps member, Mamudo Obaje, was killed by bandits on his way from Kaduna to Katsina for the monthly biometric clearance.

NYSC’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, in a statement on Tuesday, described the report as “untrue, but a figment of the baseless imagination of the mischievous writer”, while clarifying that Obaje died in a car accident at Gayaza in Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State on January 4, 2024, while travelling from Kaduna to Katsina

The statement read, “The attention of the Management of the National Youth Service Corps has been drawn to a story trending in the social media space that a corps member was killed by bandits on his way from Kaduna to Katsina for the monthly biometric clearance. From all indications, the story is untrue, but a figment of the baseless imagination of the mischievous writer, who wanted to cause unnecessary unrest among members of the public.
