“I was watching with rapt attention how she was reciting the school’s anthem during the orientation and I was moved by her display of commitment.

“We put her to the test by asking her to repeat the anthem which she did perfectly and because of that the management decided to reward her as a good example to others,” Oladebeye said.

Oladebeye said the awards were instituted to encourage and instil hard work and seriousness in the students for them to face their studies tenaciously.

“It is understandable that higher institution is a place where you enjoy a lot of freedom, but sometimes that freedom often comes with some corresponding obligations.

“As you must have heard, many students, through their carelessness have allowed the illusion of freedom of being in higher institution of learning lure them away from the path of seriousness and commitment to studies,” he said.

Oladebeye said the management of the polytechnic had put in place, facilities and programmes to deliver good services to the students in spite of its dwindling resources.

He listed some of the facilities and programmes to include: the publication of textbooks, a well-equipped digital library, Best Students scholarship award, sporting activities and relaxation facilities, Information and Communication Technology, ICT, Entrepreneurship Programme, and Quality Health Care, among others.

Miss Tosin Awoniyi of the Agriculture Department and Samuel Oladipupo of the Civil Engineering Department who are beneficiaries promised to reciprocate the kind gesture by studying hard to excel in their examinations.

Over ten thousand students were matriculated to study various courses in the polytechnic for the 2021/2022 academic session.
