Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has revealed that his late father, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, faced overwhelming stress due to his numerous wives and concubines.
Kuti shared that in addition to the 27 wives Fela famously married on the same day, and his previous wives, he had over 100 concubines living with him at his Kalakuta commune.
He explained that managing all these women was overwhelming for Fela.

Speaking on the ‘Bahd & Boujee’ podcast, Kuti said, “People only know of Fela’s 27 wives, they don’t know of his over 100 girlfriends that lived with us in the house. “The wives and girlfriends almost killed Fela with stress.”
Fela died from AIDS-related complications on August 2, 1997, at the age of 58.
