The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that the restoration of the national grid is almost complete.

The grid experienced a partial disturbance on Monday, October 14, 2024, at around 6:48 p.m. and suffered a setback at around 10:24 a.m. today, Tuesday.

According to Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager for Public Affairs, power supply has been restored to Abuja, and recovery began promptly with the Azura power station providing the initial restart.

Despite a minor setback, Mbah assured that the grid recovery process has advanced, with power now available to around 90% of TCN’s substations nationwide.

The partial disturbance did not affect the Ibom Gas generating station, which remained isolated from the grid and continued to supply power to areas in the South-South region.

A thorough investigation into the cause of the disturbance will be conducted once the grid is fully restored.
