FG Partners with Google to Train 10,000 Young Creatives

The Federal Government of Nigeria has joined forces with Google to empower 10,000 young creatives across the nation.

This initiative, announced recently, will kick off with a training program aimed at 2,500 participants, set to be expanded in the future.

The partnership will be facilitated through the Del-York Creative Academy, which will implement the program as part of the government’s Creative Leap Acceleration Programme (CLAP).

This initiative seeks to foster skills development, promote innovation, and strengthen public-private partnerships in Nigeria’s vibrant creative sector.

“The government’s commitment to nurturing Nigeria’s creative talent is unwavering,” said Hannatu Musa-Musawa, the Minister of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy.

Participants in the six-week training will gain hands-on experience in disciplines such as music, film, animation, content creation, and live production. They will explore vital skills including storyboarding, shooting, editing, motion graphics, and the integration of artificial intelligence into creative processes. Additionally, a select group will undergo a three-week intensive training and mentorship program, culminating in the production of a high-quality visual content project.

Olumide Falegan, Google’s Manager of EMEA Music & Culture, emphasized the importance of this initiative: “By empowering these 2,500 professionals, and eventually 10,000 across Nigeria, we are investing in the future of Africa’s cultural influence and economic prosperity.”

Linus Idahosa, Executive Chairman and CEO of the Del-York Group, highlighted the initiative’s potential: “By equipping young talents with industry-relevant skills, we are fostering a new generation of creative entrepreneurs.”
