Ibikunle Takes Lead as Progressive Church Society Celebrates 51 Years of Existence in Ilaro

The President of Egbe Itesiwaju, Dr. S.A.J Ibikunle, along with other executives and members of the society, will gather on October 1, 2023, to celebrate the annual anniversary of the progressive church society group.

 

Egbe Itesiwaju was established in 1972 by a group of 17 progressive-minded male members of the Cathedral Church of Christ, Ilaro.

The society’s founding fathers, including Hon. Justice O.A Ajibola and Chief R. Armstrong Ibikunle, among others, drafted a constitution and inaugurated the society on June 25, 1972.

Over the years, Egbe Itesiwaju has grown in numbers and has become a strong community of individuals dedicated to promoting religious, social, and intellectual activities among its members.Reflecting on the society’s journey, Dr. S.A.J Ibikunle, the current President, emphasized the growth of its members in faith, unity, and love for one another.

 

Despite facing challenges, the society remains committed to the teachings of Christ and has celebrated numerous triumphs along the way.

The Cathedral Church of Christ Ilaro has long been regarded as a sanctuary of hope, a source of compassion, and a guiding light in our community, according to a statement made by Ibikunle, a prominent member of the society.

He urged all members of society to continue nurturing the values of love, faith, and goodwill that were instilled by the founding fathers, ensuring their longevity for future generations.

Ibikunle emphasized the importance of involving the younger generation in carrying forward the mission of Egbe Itesiwaju, spreading the message of God’s love and grace to people all over the world.

He expressed gratitude to God for His constant presence in their lives and for the blessings bestowed upon Egbe Itesiwaju. He concluded by expressing his hopes for the growth of faith, flourishing of the community, and deepening of love among its members as they embark on a new chapter in their journey of faith.

To commemorate the occasion, members of the society will gather at a designated location in Ilaro on September 30, 2023, for the “President’s Night” event. The 51st anniversary will be celebrated on Sunday, October 1, 2023.

Membership in Egbe Itesiwaju is open to all male members of the Cathedral Church of Christ, who are considered ordinary members, while their wives are honorary members.

Notably, the society has expanded its membership base beyond the local level to include members from the diaspora.
