Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has approved a new minimum wage of N75,000 for civil servants, effective immediately, following productive discussions with labor unions.

ln a parallel move, Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno announced an N80,000 minimum wage for public servants, accompanied by the establishment of an implementation committee.

In Akwa Ibom, a statement from Commissioner for Information and Strategy Ini Ememobong outlined the creation of a committee to facilitate the wage transition, underscoring the administration’s commitment to transparency and collaboration with labor unions.

While workers in Kebbi and Akwa Ibom celebrate these increases, civil servants in Sokoto State remain in limbo, awaiting the government’s decision on their own minimum wage increase.

NLC Secretary Hamisu Hussain highlighted the pressure from workers for timely action, indicating the union’s intention to escalate the matter if no response is received soon.
