1. The Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has picked March 26, 2022, for its convention. Addressing newsmen in Abuja after a closed-door meeting, Secretary of the Caretaker Committee, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, said the preparation for the convention will commence on 24th of February 2022.
2. The Federal Government, yesterday, said the designation of bandits as terrorist has aided the fight against insecurity. The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said this yesterday when he visited the corporate head office of Media Trust Ltd (publishers of Daily Trust and other titles).
3. Justice Rita Pemu of the Court of Appeal in Owerri Imo State, was, on Sunday, abducted in Rivers State. The judge was said to be travelling to her base in Owerri from Benin City, Edo State, when she ran into gunmen along Azia-Orsumoghu-Ihiala Road.
4. Embattled DCP Abba Kyari has said he is suffering from diabetes and hypertension. The senior police officer, who is currently being detained by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over alleged drug trafficking, said this in a suit he filed before a Federal High Court, Abuja, seeking for bail.
5. The crisis between Russia and Ukraine took a new dimension on Monday when President Vladimir Putin ordered his defense ministry to send troops into Ukraine. According to the Russian leader, the troops are to maintain peace in two breakaway regions of Donetsk and Luhansk.
6. The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has issued a one-week ultimatum to the Federal Government to address the issues raised by ASUU leading to a one month warning strike. The students’ body said the FG has one week to resolve the crisis or students would embark on a national mass action across the country.

7. Two officers of the Isu Police Division, Imo State, have been killed, following an attack by gunmen. A statement from the State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Micheal Abattam said the gunmen struck at about 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, shooting sporadically and thereafter detonated an improvised explosive device.

8. The insecurity ravaging Niger State, yesterday, took a new dimension as terrorists planted and detonated explosives at strategic locations in some villages in Shiroro Local Government killing no fewer than 14 persons, including some personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
9. Former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has predicted that there will be credible elections come 2023, adding that elections will come and go but Nigeria will still remain. He said this, yesterday, during the ECOWAS, Council of the Wise, COW, two-day strategic retreat and planning workshop in Lagos.
10. Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, says Kano State will house the biggest rail station in the country. Amaechi stated this when a delegation from Kano State, led by Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje visited him in Abuja to discuss the rail and Inland Dry Port (IDP) in the State.
