Ogun Deputy Speaker faces impeachment for leading thugs to SSG’s house

The Deputy Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Dare Kadiri,  is in police net and may soon be impeached, for leading thugs to the Oru Ijebu home of the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi.

Already, a petition seeking the impeachment of the deputy speaker has been submitted to the state Assembly.  Twenty out of the 26 members of the state assembly have signed the petition asking for his impeachment as of the time of filing this report.

Franktalknow learnt that trouble started at Oru Ward 7 in Ijebu North local Govt during the All Progressives Congress (APC) membership registration and Revalidation exercise on January 19.

The Deputy Speaker,   popularly called Shehu or Dare Maba, hails from Ago Iwoye. He  was said to have  led thugs to highjack the  registration materials at a registration unit in Oru, Awa Ilaporu  Ward.

It was learnt that the Deputy Speaker went away with three out of the five registers and the forms which were later handed over to one Obagun Yinus.

Attempts by the Divisional Police Officer of Awa police station to retrieve the registers from Yinus  reportedly resulted in assault on  the Supervisor for Health, who is a member of the Transition Council of Ijebu North Locl Government, Ijebu Igbo,  Hon Yinusa Adekunle Rauf, who took the police to Yinus’ house.

Franktalknow learnt that the Deputy Speaker instructed his men to beat up the health supervisor and that it took the intervention of the DPO who reportedly prostrated to the Deputy Speaker before the supervisor could be rescued.

The Deputy Speaker was said to have thereafter led thugs to the house of the Ogun SSG,  who is  from Oru town damaging and vandalising  the house before proceeding to the homes of  other prominent members of the  party  in the town, including one  Chief Mrs Oduwole and a member of the State adversary Committee to the Governor, Hon. Joseph Adegbesan.

Telephone calls to the Deputy Speaker indicated that his phone was switched off,  hence he could not be reached for comments. The SSG also refused to speak when he was called on telephone.  However, Adegbesan confirmed that his house was attacked between February 19 and 20. He said that he did not know the reason for the attack as he was not around but said that the thugs could not gain access to the main building but threw stones from outside which broke the windows.
