The FCT Command is currently handling the case, urging the public to avoid misusing the Inspector-General of Police’s name for intimidation.

“The Nigeria Police Force is aware of the incident between a Bolt driver, Mr. Stephen Abuwatseya, and Hon. Alexander Ikwegh,” the statement read. “The FCT Command is actively handling the case following Mr. Abuwatseya’s official report.”

In the video, Ikwegh is seen repeatedly slapping and insulting Abuwatseya after the driver requested he come outside to receive a package of snails.

The lawmaker, representing the Aba North and South Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), expressed indignation at the request, questioning the driver’s respect for his social status.

“You don’t know who you are talking to,” Ikwegh threatened, insisting he could make the driver “disappear” without facing consequences.

As the altercation escalated, he urged the driver to film him properly, even challenging him to call the Inspector General of Police.
