Professor’s son, Benjamin emerges LASU best graduating student(Photos)

Benjamin Damilare,  son of Professor of Chemistry from the Faculty of Science, Lagos State University, Ojo, Prof. Rasak Olowu, has emerged as the best graduating student of the university at the 25th convocation ceremony held at the university on Wednesday.
Olowu is of the department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and graduated with a Cumulative Grade Point of 4.97 which is also a new record in the university.
Also, three of the graduating students from the Faculty of Science had the same CGPA of 4.81.
In addition, a Master’s Degree Student graduated with a perfect CGPA of 5.0, from the School of Transport and Logistics.
He attributed his success to consistent hard work and motivation from his father.
Earlier in her speech, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello said the occasion like convocation provides the university to present its scorecard to the general public as well as the global community the activities are undertaken in the university and the challenges confronting the institution.
Explaining that the university has six strategies to drive its activities, Prof Olatunji-Bello said these strategic goals have been guiding the activities of the university and to the glory of God, the management has been able to achieve its goals and more within the last six months.
Thanking the Lagos State Government for the support, Prof. Olatunji-Bello said the commitment of the Visitor to the University, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the distinguished members of the Governing Council and the resilience of members of Staff and students of the university has helped the university to achieve more since her assumption of office.
“We appreciate the Lagos State Government, our dear Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his exco, particularly the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Honourable Tokunbo Wahab for their immense support and contributions towards the growth and development of our dear University.
“Our benefactors have contributed in no small measure to the progress of the University and we are most grateful to you all.  We recognise your contributions and would be continually honoured to have you as partners in progress and development of our youths.
“We will deliver on our mandate to the delight of our proprietor, founding fathers and all stakeholders,” she added.
She congratulated the graduating students and urged them to be ambassadors of the university, “you must ensure that you conduct yourselves in such ways and manners that will always bring glory to you, your family and your alma mater.
“You have achieved what will make you succeed in life, go and explore the world, do not limit your capabilities, be focused on whatever you do and involve God in your endeavours. Always remember that we are LASU and we are Great.”
A total of 7, 232 students graduated at the convocation across various faculties.
