In a setback for the Edo Central governorship elections, persistent rain has delayed the arrival and distribution of electoral materials across several polling units.

As of 7:50 am, many voters were left waiting without signs of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials or necessary materials in key areas, including Irrua and Ekpoma.

Local residents expressed their frustration as the weather kept many indoors, despite the strict enforcement of movement restrictions by security operatives.

“We are here waiting, but it seems like the election is not happening today,” lamented a voter at the Ogboji area polling unit. Reports from ad hoc officials indicated mixed experiences regarding their payments, adding to the uncertainty.

As heavy rains continued, voter turnout remained notably low, raising concerns about the electoral process in this crucial region.
