Sterling Bank has apologised for the ‘distasteful’ Easter message greeting they sent out to their customers on Sunday.
Franktalknow had reported that the bank in its felicitation message to Christians, likened Jesus Christ’s resurrection to the rising of Agege bread.
Sterling Bank’s message read, “Like Agege Bread, He Arose!”

This triggered outrage among Nigerians, who took to social media to call out Sterling Bank and utterly condemn the bank’s Easter salutation.
Many described Sterling Bank’s message as ‘insensitive’, ‘distasteful’, ‘a mockery’, and ‘insulting’.
Responding to the backlash, Sterling Bank in another post on their verified Twitter account, apologised to Nigerians for the unpleasant comparison of Jesus Christ with Agege bread.
The Bank’s apology read, “Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
“We humbly celebrate His resurrection, the defeat of death, and the hope of salvation.”
