The Federal Government has invited the Joint Action Committee of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (SSANU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (NASU) for a meeting today at 11 a.m. to discuss their ongoing indefinite strike.
SSANU Vice-President Abdussobur Salaam confirmed the official invitation, noting that the meeting will be led by the Minister of State for Education. The strike, which began on Monday, was triggered by four months of unpaid salaries, leading to a nationwide shutdown of university activities.

SSANU National President Mohammed Ibrahim highlighted that even top university officials, including Vice-Chancellors and registrars, have not received their salaries, exacerbating the situation.
He stated, “98% of our members complied with the strike, and they will not return to work until our demands are met.”
Recall that the unions are demanding the immediate payment of withheld salaries, improved remuneration, and the implementation of agreements made in 2009.
