The Nation loses staff, Yetunde Oladeinde

A journalist with The Nation Newspaper, Yetunde Oladeinde is dead.

She was born October 7, 1967.

Announcing her demise, a former chairman of the NUJ Chapel, Muyiwa Lucas said: “NUJ The Nation Chapel…We mourn…Yetunde Oladehinde (Grandma) Weekend Desk @ The Nation…Rest in

Oladeinde until her demise, handled the fashion and flair page; lifestyle interview page for the weekend desk with many articles to her credit.

She also wrote a weekly column titled “Pillow Talk”.

Oladeinde popularly called “Grandma”, also worked at National Life Newspaper and The Sun Newspaper.

She bagged B.Ed – English and Literature from the University of Lagos in 1989, and also bagged a post-graduate diploma from Nigeria Institute of Journalism (NIJ) in 2002.

Oladeinde also belonged to other organizations including Business and Women Professional (BPW) Nigeria; Association of Nigerian Women Business Network; Echoes of Women in Africa (ECOWA), and others.

Many of her colleagues have mourned her demise. They expressed rude shock over her sudden demise.

The News Editor, Bunmi Ogunmodede said: “May the Lord grant her eternal rest. Such a quiet woman taken home! The Lord will keep her family.”

Otunba Dare Odufowokan, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Public Communication to Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun said: “Now death just did its worst – I am devastated. To the entire The Nation, NUJ nationallife family, I mourn with you this unimaginable loss”

Adeyinka Aderibigbe said: “This is simply devastating. Yetunde was more than a colleague. She was a course mate. Very unassuming.

“That’s one woman without guile. Always very boisterous and very jovial. Lively.The only woman standing on the Weekend team. What can one say? The curtain dropped in the most sudden manner. And we are left with memories of one of the best species of womanhood. Again, am shattered.”

Deputy Business Editor, Taofik Salako said: “What! We were together in the office on Friday, and we joked about her nickname: grandma. This is shocking, so sad.”

The incumbent chairman, NUJ Chapel, Gboyega Alaka said: “It’s the most shocking news of my whole life. Rest in peace dear one. We will miss you dearly’.

Tunji Adegboyega said: “I can’t believe this. This was a lady I chatted with alongside others at the Weekend Desk when I came to the office on Saturday.

“We even exchanged greetings at the front of the office when she was closing for the day. I can’t believe she is dead. She didn’t look ill. Ha! This is serious. May her soul RIP. Amen.”
