Tinubu urged to rely on expertise, merit in selecting ministers

The  Nigerian Progressive Professionals in the Diaspora has urged President Bola Tinubu to consider expertise, experience and regional balance in the appointment of ministers.

The group led by Tunde Doherty said it is important for the president to to ensure that  selected ministers possess the necessary skills to drive effective governance, policy implementation, and national development.

The group also urged the President Tinubu to include Nigerians in the diaspora with requisite qualifications in his cabinet.

The expectation from President Tinubu is the appointment of Ministers from 36, States, 6 geopolitical zones, and 1 from the diaspora.

They expressed support for the speculated move by President Tinubu to appoint Messers Bayo Onanuga: Dr. Hassan M Liman (SAN) -Babatunde Ogala, Augustine Avuru, Aisha Ahmad, Sen Adam Oshiomole and Prof Tai Balofin to serve as Ministers in his cabinet.

Speaking on Balofin who is an APC member in the Diaspora, the group noted: “He is an esteemed ally of Asiwaju Tinubu since the NADECO days, has demonstrated unwavering loyalty to the party. However, beyond loyalty, it is imperative to assess his qualifications, experience, and expertise to determine his suitability for a ministerial role.

“Prof Balofin’s extensive background in academia and management could bring valuable insights to the ministry he may be appointed to, fostering effective governance and policy implementation.

“With three Ph.D., in Mass Communication, Health Administration, and Business Administration and a Professor respectively will add value to Tinubu Administration. He was at the White House to see President Biden in defence of President Tinubu when the “obidients” set out to discredit the 2023 election outcome.”
