Mass Communication as a course of study in any polytechnic would open opportunities to further knowledge in its sub- fields which include: Journalism, Broadcasting, Public Relations, Advertising, Book publishing among others.

Polytechnics are often regarded as institutions of learning that train students mostly on practical base knowledge.

1. YABATECH

YABATECH Department of Mass Communication was established in principle July, 2003 by an instrument of the Academic Board. Up till 2005, it operated under the General Studies Department (GNS), which was then under the aegis of the School of Management and Business Studies (SMBS). With the creation of a new School School of Liberal Studies in 2005, the department transformed into a full-fledged one with a substantive Head.

The goal of the department is to give students the technical and professional skills necessary for employment in various areas of the mass communication industry such as newspaper, magazine, radio, television public relations, advertising, news agency, government, and corporate information services.

2. THE FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC, ILARO

Mass Communication Department of The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro took off with 43 students in October 2016. The pioneering students graduated in October 2018 with 5 distinction students. In line with the vision, which is aligned to the corporate strategy of FPI . The academic staff has rich experience in teaching and Mass Communication practice. There is a well- equipped studios, a photography section, a departmental library with enough books, recording studios, TV studios among others. The department has a community radio station ( Poly F.M 92.1) which provides opportunities for students to practice what they’ve been taught in class.

3. THE POLYTECHNIC OF IBADAN

The Polytechnic, Ibadan is an institution of higher learning in Ibadan in Oyo State, Nigeria. Founded in 1970, Poly Ibadan is similar to other polytechnics in Nigeria. The institution was established to provide an alternative higher education to universities, particularly in technical skill acquisition. The Mass Communication programme is intended to produce effective and efficient technologist with adequate practical and professional skills necessary for employment and job creation in the various areas of Mass Communication industry such as Newspapers, Magazines, Radio, Television, Film and Video, News media, Public Relations, Advertising, News Agency, Government and Corporate Information Service.

4. MOSHOOD ABIOLA POLYTECHNIC

Mass Communication Department of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta has since its inception in 1980 been at the forefront of producing seasoned professionals and highly qualified media practitioners in various strands of the Nigerian media industry such as; newspaper, magazine, radio, television, film /video, new media, public relations, advertising, news agency, government and corporate information services.

5.THE FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC, OFFA 

 Mass Communication department of Offa Poly was established in 1999 by the pioneer Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. (Mrs.) Taiwo Adeife Osemehikan. The department have Television studio, Cinematography Arena Public Relations and Advertising Lab Adverts studio, News room, Photography Studio and Laboratory,  Printing Press.

6. KWARA POLYTECHNIC 

The Department of Mass Communication of Kwara Poly which was established in 2010, has become synonymous with well-trained and well-behaved students in the field of journalism, broadcasting, public relations, advertising and photography. Since its establishment, the department has been accredited and re-accredited by the relevant regulatory agencies including NBTE, APCON and NIPR.In an attempt to train professionals in the field of journalism, broadcasting, public relations, advertising and photography, the department has competitive advantages over others as it has: Fully accredited programme, well- equipped studios for practicals.

7. ADAMAWA STATE POLYTECHNIC

The Polytechnic is an open institution for all, the institution is located at Yola in Adamawa state.

The institution studies Mass communication as a course. The institution enlightens the students both with practicals and theories.

To get admitted in the above polytechnic, you have to buy the admission form, and meet all the admission requirements.

8. FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC NEKEDE

The Federal Polytechnic, Nekede is a federal government-owned higher institution located in Nekede, Owerri West local government area in Imo State, South-Eastern Nigeria. With robust staff strength and state-of-the-art training studios, they give students both theoretical and practical knowledge in the evolving field of Mass Communication.Mass communication department, FPNO, is one of the fastest growing departments and the most sort after in the school. There are students both in the National Diploma (ND) and the Higher National Diploma (HND) all accredited by the National Board for Technical Education.

9. KADUNA POLYTECHNIC (KADPOLY)

Kaduna Polytechnic is one of the earliest polytechnics in Nigeria, located at Tudun Wada area of Kaduna South local government of Kaduna State, North-Western Nigeria.The department of Mass Communication has graduated students from PGD, HND and ND programmes and have standard Television Studio and Radio Studio, photo studies, editing centre, resource etc. KPT F.M which is hopefully willing to start soon.

10. OSUN STATE POLYTECHNIC, IREE

Osun State Polytechnic, Iree is also known as OSPOLY is a tertiary learning institution in Iree, Osun State, Nigeria. The Polytechnic was formerly a satellite campus of The Polytechnic, Ibadan. The Mass Communication department is one of the most sought after in the institution with standard equipments and resources to train students.
