The Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, has appealed to passport applicants to collect their produced passports from various passport issuing centres across the country.

Nandap revealed that 107,646 passports are currently awaiting collection, despite numerous attempts to contact the owners.

The Comptroller General, in a statement signed by the NIS Spokesperson, Kenneth Udo, on Friday, advised applicants to provide accurate and verifiable addresses and phone numbers when filling out online passport application forms to ensure that they can be easily contacted in the future.

The step was crucial to avoid similar issues and ensure timely communication with applicants.

“The CGIS hinted that a total number of 107, 646 produced passports are awaiting collection. However, efforts made at reaching out to the owners have proved abortive.

“Applicants are therefore strongly advised to always provide verifiable addresses and phone numbers when filling their online passport application forms for easy contact,” the statement read in part.

To facilitate the collection process, “all Passport Offices in Lagos will now operate on Saturdays from 9am to 2p., dedicated solely to the collection of produced passports. Applicants are encouraged to take advantage of this extended service,” the statement read in part.
