15 year-old pupil killed in Lagos fuel tanker explosion (Photos)

A 15-year-old pupil billed to sit for the Unified Tertiary Examination (UTME)  has been burnt to death in a tanker explosion early Friday morning in Lagos.

The tanker is carrying Premium Motor Spirit also known as petrol. It exploded in the early hours of Friday on the Lagos/Abeokuta expressway at Alagbado, area of Lagos State.

According to the National Emergency Management Agency, the incident started at about 2:06 this morning, around Ajegunle Busstop and the content spilled down to Toll. Gate.

The Lagos State Fire Service reportedly handled it from the Lagos end while the Ogun State Fire Service also faced it from the  Ogun side.
“Unfortunately, a male adult casualty was recovered dead. The dead was a 15vears old boy. OLIWATOBI LAWAL. The teenager is preparing to write the JAMB/UTME and WAEC exams next month. Forty-two makeshift shops were consumed in the inferno,” NEMA said.
