Twenty students sitting the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) in Bayelsa State have tested positive for COVID-19.
This is coming to fore three days after Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State announced that a student writing the WASSCE in the state contracted the virus.
The Permanent Secretary, Bayelsa State Ministry of Health, Inodu Apoku, said on Thursday that 20 of the screened 600 candidates sitting WASSCE in the state tested positive for the virus.
Apoku said the cases were discovered due to the safety measures put in place to check the spread of the virus and ensure the well-being of the students.

Recall that COVID-19 cases have also been reported among candidates sitting the exam in Kwara and Gombe states. The candidates in these states were allowed to sit their exams in isolation centres.
