The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that there are heaps of Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) dating back to 2017, yet to be collected by their owners in Cross River State.
Head of Voter Education and Publicity for INEC in the state, Mrs Anthonia Nwobi made the disclosure during an appearance on a radio programme in Calabar.
She said INEC is still conducting sensitisation campaigns to encourage people to collect their cards, stressing that people do not need to go to any other INEC registration centres to register again.
“Double registration is an offence, and we guard against it seriously.
“If for any reason you want to move your voting point to your new residential area you are free to do so from our office instead of going to register anew.
“People should go to our office and collect their PVCs. We have many from 2017.”
Nwobi said they now have a dedicated desk in their Calabar office to handle PVC issues.

She said people still have more than 21 days to register but that new registrants may not be able to vote as their cards may not be ready.
Only 190, 933 have yet been registered, she said.
As a way of encouraging more people to access INEC offices, she also disclosed that INEC has 193 wards in the state to enable people register at polling stations nearest to them.
